When you think you have everything you want, you should wish that nothing changes.

The Real Work

It may be that when we no longer know what to do
we have come to our real work,

and that when we no longer know which way to go
we have come to our real journey.

The mind that is not baffled is not employed.

The impeded stream is the one that sings.

~ Wendell Berry

I asked my son today, while we were waiting for his school bus, what one fun thing he was looking forward to doing today. He's a thoughtful kid, so he took a moment to think about it, and then answered, "nothing." It made me feel so guilty. As a recovering mom, this happens to me frequently. I wonder how much I have contributed to this lethargy of living.

When I was 12

The first time I got drunk, I was 12. I smoked my first joint at 13. Sounds like the beginning of a speaker meeting (Earl G and Patti O come to mind) but it's not. Now that I think about it, both times can be attributed to my older brother, who ironically turned out to be a normie!

Today's Thought

You cannot be lonely if you like the person you're alone with.

- Wayne Dyer
